Gianreto Manatschal received his PhD in geology from the ETH Zürich, Switzerland in 1995. After postdoctoral appointments at the Danish Lithosphere Centre and at ETH Zürich, he moved to Strasbourg (France), where he became full professor in tectonics at the Ecole et Observatoire des Sciences de la Terre in 2003. His major research interests are related to the formation and reactivation of rifted margins in the Atlantic and Alpine Tethys domains.

Andy Racey received his PhD in 1988 and worked for various companies before joining BG Group in 1994 where he held a number of posts until July 2014. He has worked in over 95 countries and been involved in the exploration/development of several giant fields including Brazilian pre-salt Cretaceous carbonates, Palaeozoic carbonates in Kazakhstan, thrusted Devonian sandstones in Bolivia, Oligo-Miocene fluvial-shallow marine sediments in Thailand, Pleistocene turbidites in Trinidad and Eocene carbonates in Tunisia. He has published 75 academic papers on various aspects of geology including 34 on South East Asia. He currently works as an independent consultant.

Anne McAfee is a Senior Geological Advisor with Core Lab’s Regional Studies Group in the UK. She has acted as lead geologist on numerous multi-client regional studies, with emphasis initially on South Atlantic Margin Basins of West Africa and Brazil, followed by East African Basins and more recently Central Atlantic and North Atlantic Margins. Anne has 29 years industry experience and holds a PhD in sedimentology from University College Cork, Ireland.

Emmanuelle is Vice President Strategy, Planning, Portfolio & Performance in Exploration for TOTAL Paris, France. Mrs. Garinet has 24 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, mostly in the Exploration domain.

Phil is currently President and CEO Europe of Harbour Energy plc one of the leading European independent oil and gas companies and the largest net producer in the UK. Phil was previously CEO and founder of the Chrysaor Group. He is a Chartered Accountant, Fellow of the Energy Institute and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Sophie Zurquiyah is CEO of CGG. She has over 29 years of experience in the oilfield services industry successfully leading large global organizations delivering high-end products and services, ranging from subsurface technical services, to integrated solutions, to clients worldwide in the oil & gas industry.

As Director of Platform Architecture and Cloud Architecture Lead for APJ, LATAM, and MEA at Teradata, Christopher Jackson spearheads the company's cloud and AI initiatives across a vast and diverse international landscape. He directs a team of expert cloud architects responsible for supporting sales and account teams across all industries. His primary focus is on accelerating the customer adoption of Teradata Vantage, and driving innovation through the integration and adoption of agentic AI solutions, empowering organizations to unlock new value from their trusted data.

Professor Robert Hall began work on Southeast Asian geology in 1984, following 15 years of field studies in the Middle East (Turkey, Greece, Iran) Tethyan Belt. His first expedition took him to Halmahera, where he worked with Mike Audley-Charles and colleagues from GRDC Bandung. Despite an initial experience of fieldwork in one of the wettest ‘dry-seasons’ for years, Robert kept returning to Southeast Asia throughout the 1980s and 90s for a series of expeditions to the North Moluccas and nearby islands. In 1994 he became the Director of the Southeast Asia Research Group (SEARG) at Royal Holloway, University of London. SEARG has always been committed to field-based research, with major expeditions and projects in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, and the Philippines. Almost 40 years of activity means that SEARG is an internationally pre-eminent group known for its work in the region. The group is funded predominantly through a series of three-year industry consortia. This funding supports the research within the group and enables international collaborations. Of particular importance are successful collaborations with academic institutions and government agencies in SE Asia, for example, in recent years SEARG have worked closely with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in Indonesia, and have funded numerous Masters and PhD students from Indonesia and Malaysia. SEARG research has always been varied, from the well-known and widely-used tectonic reconstructions of SE Asia and the SW Pacific which have implications for biogeography, ocean circulation, global climate, sediment supply, magmatism, and mineralisation, to current work on sediment provenance and thermochronology. Work of particular note includes: mantle structure and tectonic models with Professor Wim Spakman (Utrecht University); reconstructions and dating with Professor Gordon Lister (Australian National University); geochronological work with Professor Andy Carter (Birkbeck London) and biostratigraphic dating with Professor Marcelle Boudagher-Fadel (University College London). SEARG is internationally known, to those working in SE Asia and also widely to those working outside the region, including geologists, oceanographers, environmental scientists, and biogeographers. In addition to scientific research, SEARG has also been involved in the publication of general interest books, and television programmes about SE Asia.

Richard Lorentz is a petroleum geologist with more than 30 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry, of which 25 years have been focused on exploration and business development in Asia. He is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of newly established CKR Resources, a company building on the success and track record of his two previous ventures. Richard was a co-founder and Executive Director of KrisEnergy Ltd, an independent E&P company established in 2009 to create value across a diverse range of oil and gas assets in geological basins in Southeast Asia. Since inception, KrisEnergy has built a portfolio of 16 producing, development and exploration assets in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. In July 2013, KrisEnergy was listed on the mainboard of the Singapore Exchange. Prior to establishing KrisEnergy, Richard was a co-founder and Executive Director of Pearl Energy and was responsible for the overall strategic development of the group’s worldwide portfolio. Pearl Energy was established in 2002 and was the first pure E&P company to be listed on the Singapore Exchange in 2005 and was subsequently acquired by Abu Dhabi’s Aabar Petroleum Investments Company the following year. Richard was appointed Vice President New Ventures & Corporate Relations with Aabar and was a member of the Senior Executive Team until 2008 when Pearl Energy was acquired by Mubadala Development Company. His other previous key positions include Manager of New Business Development for Elf Aquitaine in Singapore, New Ventures & Exploration Manager for Gulf Indonesia and Senior Production Geologist for Asamera (South Sumatra) Ltd. He also worked for Oriental Petroleum & Minerals in the Philippines, Funk Exploration Inc. in the United States and Anglo-Suisse (Pakistan) Inc. based in Karachi. Richard has served as Non-executive Chairman of Franklin Offshore Marine, one of the world’s largest suppliers of deepwater offshore mooring systems. He also has served as a Non-executive Independent Director for Global Tender Barges Pte Ltd. He is currently an Independent Director of Miclyn Express Offshore Limited, a private company supplying shipping services to the oil and gas industry with a global footprint. He is a member and past Chairman of the professional Division of the Indonesian Petroleum Association, a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) and Oklahoma Geological Society, and a past three-term President of the South East Asia Petroleum Exploration Society (SEAPEX). In 2013, the AAPG presented Richard with a Distinguished Service Award and a Certificate of Merit in recognition of dedicated and meritorious service. Richard holds a Master of Science (Geology) from the University of the Philippines and a Bachelor of Science (Geology) from Oklahoma State University.

Lord Winston is Professor of Science and Society and Emeritus Professor of Fertility Studies at Imperial College London. Most will be familiar with his achievements with human fertility and embriology. He is a distinguished Parliamentarian and has been at the forefront of promoting the STEM agenda in Parliament through his role as Chairman of the House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology and Vice-Chairman of the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology. He has presented numerous STEM-based TV documentaries, including in 2010, ‘How Science Changed Our World’, a 12 programme series on major scientific innovations where his own personal choice was the Big Bang Theory.

Jean-Claude Ringenbach studied in Ecole Normale Supérieure and he earned his Ph.D. in structural geology and geodynamics in 1992 from Nice University, France. He worked for Elf and then Total since 1992. Exploration Geologist in Total Affiliates, he occupied several positions: basin geologist and deep offshore Exploration Manager (1997-2001) and Chief Geologist in Libya (2001-2004). From 2004 to 2007 JC took over the Fold-and-Thrust Belts thematic in the New Venture Group in Paris. From 2007-2013 he was the Head of the Structural Geology Group in Pau and has been appointed Total’s Expert in Structural Geology in 2013. JC’s experience encompasses various fields of basin structural geology and is based on a large worldwide geological knowledge. His expertise is supported by academic projects on Fold-and-Thrust Belts, Salt Tectonics and Continental Margins.
