In 2010, Marine Lance Cpl. Kyle Carpenter threw himself on a grenade to save a fellow Marine during a Taliban attack in Afghanistan. He lost his right eye, most of his lower jaw and teeth, and his right arm was shattered. In 2014, he was awarded the Medal of Honor, making him the youngest living recipient of our country’s highest military honor. He has since published an autobiography, You Are Worth It: Building A Life Worth Fighting For, and launched his own podcast, The Kyle Carpenter Podcast, both about overcoming adversity and forging a life of joyful purpose.

Gene Copenhaver is a fifth-generation cattleman whose family dates to the 1850s in Washington County, Virginia. Copenhaver currently manages his family’s stocker operation in southwest Virginia with his son, Will. Copenhaver was an agriculture loan officer for 38 years and served his clients who were primarily cattle producers in five East Coast states. Copenhaver previously served as NCBA President elect, Vice President, chair and vice chair of the policy division, chair and vice chair of NCBA’s tax and credit committee, and chair and vice chair of NCBA’s international trade committee. He is a past president of the Virginia Cattlemen’s Association and past chairman of the Virginia Cattle Foundation.

Mike Eruzione captained the 1980 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team — scoring the winning goal that secured Olympic gold, and the team’s induction into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame. Mike played on two U.S. national teams, and with the International Hockey League’s Toledo Goaldiggers. He received the IHL’s McKenzie Award, presented annually to the most outstanding American-born hockey player in the League. After Olympic victory, Mike was a commentator for the Madison Square Garden communications network.
