Casey Brewer is a clinical laboratory geneticist who reaches life-improving molecular diagnoses while conducting valuable research. His doctoral studies were completed at the University of Southern California in systems biology and disease. He began his career as a clinical scientist at Fulgent Genetics, analyzing exomes, mitochondrial genomes, and hereditary cancer panels. He later served as a genomic scientist with the Southern California Permanente Medical Group, specializing in microarray analysis for prenatal and postnatal tests. Because of his passion for clinical genetics, Casey pursued a Laboratory Genetics and Genomics fellowship at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Having completed his fellowship, he is now an Assistant Professor and laboratory Co-Director at Cincinnati Children's. His clinical duties include molecular and cytogenetics, covering prenatal, constitutional, and cancer testing. Using cutting-edge technologies such as genomic sequencing and optical genome mapping, Casey seeks to provide patients with answers that were not previously possible.
