Brigadier Nick Mackenzie was commissioned into The King&rsquo;s Own Royal Border Regiment (one of the antecedent regiments of The Duke of Lancaster&rsquo;s Regiment) in 1998. &nbsp;He has served at Regimental Duty in both the Armoured and Light Infantry role in Catterick, Warminster, Canada, Germany and Cyprus. &nbsp;He has served on operations in Northern Ireland as a Company Operations Officer and as a Company Commander with the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment on Op HERRICK 11.<br /> As a staff officer, he has served with 1 (UK) Armoured Division as the SO3 Operations, this included a tour of Iraq on Op TELIC 7 and 8. &nbsp;On promotion to Major in 2006, he was employed in a post which saw him deliver Urgent Operational Requirements to Iraq and Afghanistan. &nbsp;After sub-unit command he was posted to The Army Directorate for Operations and Contingencies; as the lead SO2 for overseas operations. &nbsp;He also spent time as the Chief Instructor at the Infantry Battle School in Brecon.<br /> He was appointed as the SO1 Current Operations in Headquarters 3rd (UK) Division in 2014. &nbsp;He commanded the Army Training Regiment (Winchester) from Sep 16 to Apr 19, after which he spent time as short period as SO1 Training Operations in HQ ARITC.<br /> In Aug 19, he was promoted to Colonel and assumed the role of Assistant Director Recruiting in HQ ARITC. &nbsp;In Apr 23, he joined the DPers Directorate in the role of Assistant Head Personnel Strategy. &nbsp;He assumed the role of Hd Training, Skill, Learning and Development in the Defence People Team in Jul 25.
